The Rice laboratory isolated the first infectious clone of HCV (Kolykhalov et al., Science 277, 570-574, 1997). The commercial rights to this technology, including U.S. 6,127,116, are exclusively licensed to Apath from Washington University, and is available for nonexclusive license to the field.
