Title: Senior Scientist

Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with
significant experience cultivating, genetically manipulating
and studying the replication of medically-relevant mammalian
viruses. Preference will be given to candidates with
experience working with positive-strand viruses,
particularly members of the flavivirus family. Candidate
will design and conduct research projects focused on
developing novel virus cultivation systems and use them to
discover and characterize antiviral drugs. Responsibilities
also include reporting to management, supervising Associate
Scientists and Laboratory Assistants and overseeing the
maintenance of a safe, productive laboratory environment.
Education:
Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology,
Microbiology, or a related discipline.
Required Skills:
Ability to coordinate work flow and manage multiple projects
within established timelines are essential skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in virus culture, molecular cloning
and establishment of transiently and permanently transformed
cell lines. A strong working knowledge of methods used to
study virus infectivity and gene expression is highly
desirable. 3 years experience working as an independent
scientist in industry/company setting desired. Minimum 1
year supervisory experience required. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
required.

Title: Associate Scientist
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Requisition Number: 0312
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate
Scientist for mammalian cell culturing and molecular
cloning. The individual will be responsible for working
with senior scientific staff to develop, apply and maintain
novel, proprietary cell- and virus-culture systems.
Responsibilities will also include preparing and maintaining
standardized laboratory protocols and records as well as
providing progress reports to senior scientific management.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology,
Virology or a closely related discipline.
Required Skills:
Excellent mammalian cell culture and molecular cloning
skills. Experience cultivating and characterizing mammalian
viruses and using RT-PCR are highly desirable. Demonstrated
proficiency designing, conducting and interpreting
cell-based experiments to measure gene expression and virus
replication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel,
Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) required. Individual must be
able to work with minimal supervision.
